Andrew Johnson ’23—a Military Science and Political Science major hailing from St. Louis, Missouri—committed to a huge involvement at Santa Clara University before he even stepped foot on campus: he began his first year as a member of the university’s Army ROTC program, a leadership program combining several hours a week of classes, leadership labs, physical training and field training exercises throughout all four years as a Bronco. However, Andrew didn’t let this stop him from getting involved in a variety of other activities across campus during his time here. His first year, he made the cut for SCU’s Mock Trial A-Team, and joined the professional business fraternity Alpha Kappa Psi. As a sophomore, Johnson got involved in SCU’s Associated Student Government as an Associate Justice and later a Chief Justice. Throughout his time at SCU, Johnson has completed several internships within the U.S. Army and campaigned for congressmen and other political figures.

Within ROTC, Johnson is currently serving as the Cadet Battalion Commander, leading fellow cadets with care and a sense of purpose. Additionally, he was selected as the George C. Marshall Leadership Award winner and a Distinguished Military Graduate.

Lieutenant Colonel Sean Chang (Military Science), who has worked with Johnson throughout his time as an undergraduate, says, “There is no doubt that Andrew will be a prominent Santa Clara University graduate in the future, proudly representing this great institution and its rich traditions.”
