Dear College Faculty and Staff,
I hope you have had a chance to take a few deep breaths since students left campus.
Looking ahead, there are a lot of exciting things happening after the new year. For the first time, we are partnering with Athletics to host a College of Arts and Sciences Night at the upcoming Men’s Basketball game versus St. Mary’s. Mark your calendars for January 13 and make use of the 4 free tickets faculty and staff get to Athletics events! We would love a great turnout to show our CAS pride!
Campus Ministry will be hosting a special mass intention for the College of Arts and Sciences again this year, set for the 8 p.m. mass on January 21. I enjoyed attending the mass Father Mariani put on last year dedicated to the College, so I am pleased to see Campus Ministry doing this again.
This quarter, we have been working with Corduroy Media to develop an interactive installation that will go up in SCDI in February. Through this installation, we are hoping to spark students’ desire to explore multidisciplinary study while at Santa Clara University. We will be featuring influential figures who have blended differing areas of study in their life and work; we’ll have game components for participants; and some special giveaways! It’s going to be just great and I am looking forward to seeing it all come together next quarter. Keep your eyes out after the new year for information about an opening reception!
And in a nod to our Jesuit roots – or a shout-out to Classics…
Anno novo faustum felicem cursum (Have a Happy New Year)!
Sincerely,
Daniel
