Dear College Faculty and Staff,
I am dedicating this issue of Notes from the Dean to the new faculty who will be joining us this fall! As you’ll see below, we have included a quick introduction to each new member, including the department they’ll join and the expertise they bring.
The College is tremendously fortunate to welcome 12 of 13 new tenure-track faculty and two lecturers to our community this coming year (one tenure-track faculty will join us in 2022). In addition, assistant professors Melissa Brown (Communication) and Eric Mosinger (Political Science) who were hired last year will be starting with us this fall. They are all remarkable in their talents and accomplishments, as you will quickly learn when you meet them. Relatively few colleges and universities were hiring this past year, so I am doubly grateful that we were among those that could recruit, and that we did so very successfully.
A great deal of work goes into making such successful faculty appointments. My deepest gratitude to the departments, who crafted such thoughtful job announcements, recruited stellar candidates and shepherded them through the interview process – all remotely!
I am eagerly anticipating the fall, when I expect to greet this new faculty cohort in person... come to think of it, I can't wait to meet many of you in person as well! Until then, enjoy reading the descriptions below.
