Lauren Kemble, Class of 2020

Pursuing a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology

I am a doctoral student at the University of North Texas studying to get my PhD in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in couples, children and families. My research interests include Complex PTSD in the LGBTQIA+ community. I am also studying resilience in relation to Complex PTSD. I love the field of Counseling Psychology because I get to combine everything I learned from my Women’s and Gender Studies classes at Santa Clara with psychology. Social justice and advocacy are pillars of this field and my experience in the WGST department prepared me to apply this competency to my current professional work in research and therapy. My goal is to have my own private practice in the future.
