Environmental Studies, 2017
" I have taken a number of classes within the ESS department focused on agroecology, water resources, climate justice, environmental education and more.
I am currently working on a research project with Chris Bacon and Iris Stewart-Frey focused on food and water security in Nicaragua. I traveled to Nicaragua in July of 2016 to help with community-based water monitoring and GIS mapping. This July, we will continue our research and distribute the survey we have prepared to households in Nicaragua. In April, Chris, Iris and I presented a poster at the Association of American Geographers conference titled "Assessing water resources for climate adaptation through community-based water monitoring in rural Nicaragua.”
My favorite part of the ESS department is how insightful, inspiring and helpful all of the professors are both inside and outside the classroom. "
