Alumni Update: Lisa McMonagle '15
Studying US politics as legislative fellow in DC
Lisa McMonagle '15 (Environmental Studies and Political Science) is currently in the second and final year of a Master of Public Administration at NYU Wagner. She is studying Public Policy Analysis with a focus on U.S. federal policy. This summer, Lisa worked as a Legislative Fellow for Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez in Washington, D.C. In her role as Fellow, Lisa worked with legislative staff to help do policy research, write memos and letters, as well as help craft some of the office's legislation (including HR 4546, which was introduced at the end of September). As a bonus, Lisa also had the opportunity to meet Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez. Lisa reports that her graduate work has been “an awesome experience overall, and I learned so much about U.S. politics and policy.”
