Denise earned her M.A. in English Literature with a focus on Rhetoric and Composition Pedagogy from the University of Oregon and a B.A. in Comparative Literature as well as a B.A. in Religious Studies from the University of California, Davis. She enjoys working with diverse groups of students' especially first-year writers' as they write for a wide range of college classes.

Before coming to SCU she taught at the University of Oregon and at the U.C. Davis Learning Skills Center.

Currently she is researching argumentation and rhetoric in relation to activism and protest but also studies issues related to sustainability and aims to bring those into her classes frequently.
