Adrián Machado

Double major in Classical Studies and Finance

"Hello Everyone! My name is Adrián and I'm from Santa Ana in Southern California. I've always loved learning about history and when I was able to take Latin in High School I enjoyed it greatly. Initially, I had come to Santa Clara as an undecided business major with no intention of studying Classics, however, walking through the business school one day I caught some Classics students working through Introductory Latin and offered to help them. That moment reignited my passion for Latin and Classics. I think the most distinctive Classics class I've taken at Santa Clara would have to be Bath and Body Works in Ancient Rome. where we studied Ancient Roman Baths both from an architectural perspective but also how they were culturally significant and what values the baths represented in Roman Society. I've been loving my Classics Capstone so far, working to study the social language of clothing in the Hellenistic Royal Court and compare it to certain groups now. Being able to combine multiple passions of mine into a project that excites me has been a blast so far. After Santa Clara University, I will be headed to New York to work in wealth management at Morgan Stanley."
