Stokes’ Lab

Dr. Stokes and Anna Calkins (2017), who is the recipient of a Clare Boothe Luce scholarship, will be presenting their research at the American Chemical Society National Meeting in San Diego, CA in March 2016. We will be presenting our recent discoveries about how water-soluble peptoids composed of (S)-N-1-naphthylethyl)glycine subunits, made in Dr. Amelia Fuller's Lab interacts with artificial lipid membranes and with bare silica surfaces.

Other students, Jennifer Yin (2018), Amanda Fearon (2018) and Jacenda Rangel (2018) are working hard to discover the mechanism by which small molecule pharmaceutical drugs like indomethacin interact with supported lipid bilayers formed on both flat and curved silica surfaces.
