Santa Clara University is a private, nonprofit university located in Santa Clara California, more commonly known as Silicon Valley. The Department of Art and Art History's Gallery at Santa Clara University is accepting proposals for 2 and 3 person exhibitions, as well as themed and group exhibitions. Visual artists, curators, and coordinators of artist groups are encouraged to submit proposals. The Gallery hosts exhibitions of contemporary art by emerging and mid-career artists with previous exhibition experience, who work in any media, including site-specific installations, video and other time-based media, performance, new technologies and experimental forms.
Eligibility
Open to visual artists, curators, and coordinators of artist groups. Artists must be 18 years of age or older and not currently enrolled in an undergraduate arts degree program. The exact dates of a proposed exhibition will be determined in collaboration with the applicant following the approval of an application.

Please be sure to consult the Galley Mission Statement before crafting your proposal. Artists interested in exhibiting should submit the following in a single multipage .pdf document no larger than 25 MB:
- Up to 15 high-quality digital images that are representative of the work proposed for the exhibit.
- Video works and other time-based media may be submitted via a URL link to a website such as Vimeo, YouTube, and alike. Each piece must be no longer than 10 minutes.
- A short one-page statement explaining the purpose and details of the proposal, maximum of 500 words.
- A one-page artist statement. If proposing a group show, a statement is required from each artist.
- CV or resume, 3 pages or less. If proposing a group show, a CV is required from the applicant and recommended from each exhibiting artist.
Proposals for review or inquiries for additional information should be emailed to the Exhibition Committee at deptgallery@scu.edu. Applications that do not meet the formatting criteria above will not be considered.
Exhibition Policies

Artists are required to transport/arrange for transportation of their works of art to and from the gallery. Depending on the budget year, some funding may be available for transportation. It is recommended that an applicant inquires about funding before submitting an application.

The Gallery preparator is available to install the show. It is recommended that accepted applicants provide a layout. Work must arrive ready to hang. D-rings, wire, or a cleat is preferred for two-dimensional work. Please review the Equipment List below for available pedestals, monitors etc.

The Gallery will provide: labels, vinyl signage, and wall text

The Department has funds available for a modest reception.

A modest honorarium is available for artists willing to give a lecture.

Exhibited works will be insured by Santa Clara University while on the premises. The Gallery does not employ art guards. However, the Gallery is outfitted with cameras. The Gallery is securely locked when closed.

If the artwork differs significantly from the application materials originally submitted, the gallery reserves the right to refuse to display the artwork.

The Gallery reserves the right to use images of accepted artwork for publicity. Accepted artists will be required to submit a high-resolution jpg the accepted artwork for such purposes.

The Gallery cannot be involved in the sales of artwork. Any inquiries will be forwarded to the artist.

Liability Terms
Artist’s accepted proposals will be sent an agreement letter. This letter constitutes a full agreement on the part of the artist to all conditions set forth. The Gallery Committee will have final authority to define what constitutes acceptable artwork. Damaged containers will be returned unopened. Exhibited works will be insured by Santa Clara University while on the premises. Neither Santa Clara University, the gallery, nor its staff is responsible for lost or damaged work.
