The Studio Art program offers courses in variety of media including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, mixed media, computer imaging, animation, graphic design, photography, and web design.
Our curriculum is integrated and balanced. We emphasize traditional fine arts skills as well as new technologies. We'll help you hone your practice while challenging you to consider the conceptual aspects of your work. And we'll shift you out of the studio to take Art History courses and prepare an exhibit—from the lighting and display design to the work itself—to be displayed at the Senior Art Show.
What else do we have to offer?
An art museum on campus (the de Saisset). Community art projects that explore local social, economic, and cultural issues. Art Club, Clay Club, Printmaking Society Club. Juried art shows. A faculty that exhibits all over the world yet spends countless hours working with students. Paid internships at significant Bay Area galleries and museums. Brand new facilities. And more.
And then?
Studio Art majors learn the kind of creative problem solving sought after by companies all over Silicon Valley and across the world. You'll leave here with a well-rounded education that could take you anywhere.
