Dear Colleagues —
This fall, the Career Center — in partnership with colleagues in the College of Arts and Sciences and the Alumni Office — is launching the first-ever Alumni-Student Mentorship Program for students in the humanities and social sciences. We are proud and excited to launch this program in strategic alignment with the goals of Impact 2030.
We need your help to recruit alumni mentors! Forward this email to any interested alumni in your network or recommend alumni for us to reach out to. Alumni can sign up on Bronco Exchange through Sunday, September 15.
- Alumni should have at least 2 years of professional experience;
- Alumni should be based in the Bay Area or able to travel to the Bay Area;
- Alumni can be graduates of any SCU program as long they have the interest and experience to mentor humanities and social sciences students;
- Yes! Faculty and staff can apply to be mentors!
Please direct any questions or alumni mentor recommendations to Shauna Strauss, Assistant Director of Career Development, at sstrauss@scu.edu.
As always, I look forward to working together to deliver on the promise of higher education for all of our students: a good job, social capital, and economic mobility in pursuit of a more humane, just and sustainable world.
Thank you,
|

20+ Companies Participate in First-ever "Total Internship Management Workshop"
In August, the Career Center brought together several regional partners to host the first ever Silicon Valley Total Internship Management Workshop, facilitated by InternBridge.
More than 20 employers, including multi-billion dollar companies such as Bill.com and Merck KGaA, VC-funded startups like EUV Tech, and local non-profits like Open Door Legal and Chinatown Community Development Center, sent representatives to learn best practices for starting and strengthening their internship programs.
In collaboration with our regional partners, we're both helping educate employers on how to provide meaningful internship experiences for our students, and also supporting workforce development initiatives that make Silicon Valley one of the most exciting economic centers of the world.
Questions about our Employer Relations & Partnerships strategy? Email Melissa Thiriez, Director of Employer Relations & Parnterships, at mthiriez@scu.edu.

Introducing Jobscan, New Resume Review Tool for Students
The Career Center, in partnership with the Leavey School of Business, has officially adopted Jobscan, a popular tool for creating and optimizing resumes for specific job titles and job descriptions. We are hosting a campus-wide demo and training for you to learn how to use and integrate this platform into your classrooms and programs.
REGISTER FOR TRAINING » Monday, September 16, 2024 | 12-1 p.m. via Zoom
Jobscan will replace VMock, our current A.I. resume review tool. Students will continue to have access to VMock until early November. We are switching from VMock to Jobscan because we firmly believe Jobscan is a better solution and superior product, and it is also a more cost competitive vendor.
Questions? Email Colleen Withers, Director of Career Development and Campus Integration, at cwithers@scu.edu.

Career Center hosts Handshake for Campus Visit
On Wednesday, August 14, the Career Center hosted Laura Kalb, our Handshake relationship manager, for a day of learning, product demonstrations, and feedback.
In our meeting with Handshake, we learned that Santa Clara University is far outpacing our peers in terms of undergraduate, graduate, and alumni platform activation and usage!
One of the many reasons Santa Clara University is proud to be a #HandshakeSchool is because of the high-touch customer service they provide and their willingness to ideate and listen to feedback. Thank you for giving us a visit, Laura!
