Dear Colleagues —
On Wednesday, February 12, the Career Center hosted the 8th Annual Diversity Works Expo & Awards! This year, we experimented with several new ideas that helped take this already-flagship event to an impressive new level.
More than 180 students came out to celebrate the student awardees, hear keynote remarks from Leslie Osborne '05 followed by a fireside chat with Ricky Padilla, and network with dozens of employer representatives from a diverse range of inclusive companies including event sponsors Enterprise Mobility and ServiceNow.

Congratulations to Amanuel Bizuneh, Assistant Director of Employer Relations and staff lead for this event, for your thoughtful planning and execution and coordinating the involvement of so many different stakeholders including students, student organizations, employers, and faculty and staff.
Thank you also to Melissa Thiriez, Director of Employer Relations, and to Shauna Strauss, Assistant Director of Career Development, for the many ways you supported this event. Special shout outs to Jim Gensheimer for the beautiful photos, our Facilities team for set-up and breakdown, Bon Appétit for catering, and Mark Litteral for pinching in to assist with distributing the award payments.
Curious to learn more about Diversity Works? Email Amanuel Bizuneh at abizuneh@scu.edu.
As always, I look forward to working together to deliver on the promise of higher education for all of our students: a good job, social capital, and economic mobility in pursuit of a more humane, just and sustainable world.

A special thank you goes out to Iffat Bhuiyan for her enthusiasm, willingness to try something new, hard work and partnership, and to our four Santa Clara volunteer interviewers for supporting this effort: Shirley Mata, Melissa Minato, Juan Peralta and Colleen Withers.
We learned a lot, students were thrilled to have the opportunity, and 85% of interviewers said they’d return for another mock interview workshop in the future!

Students, Alumni Pack House for Board of Regents Panel Discussion
On Thursday, February 20, distinguished members of the Santa Clara University Board of Regents hosted a panel discussion and networking event for students and alumni. Moderated by Neil Datar '17, the discussion focused on the theme of "Maximizing Mentors in Your Job Search."

Many students lingered after the panel to stay and network with the Regents. One student attendee, Ling Li, reflected on LinkedIn afterwards: "One of my biggest takeaways from this event was about mentorship and lifelong learning—the idea that we can learn from everyone around us and trust that opportunities come at the right time when we are prepared for them. ... I look forward to more opportunities to learn from senior leaders and continue growing through mentorship."
Thank you, as always, to Mike Wallace and Kirsten Rasmussen for both of your support.
