Dear Colleagues —
I want to take a moment in this month's message to highlight some of the outstanding thought leadership being produced by the Career Center staff. This academic year, the Career Center has accomplished an extremely rare 'hat trick': members of our team have been invited to present at the annual conferences of all three major professional associations in our field.
In April, Chris Harris will present at the Career Leadership Collective's Annual Conference in Atlanta, GA. His session, From Admit to Alum: Envisioning One System that Propels Students Through the Engagement Lifecycle, will focus on Bronco Exchange. Zach Plaza from the Alumni Office and Randy Wang from Admission helped develop the proposal.
In June, Vania Tong will present at the National Association of Colleges and Employers' Annual Conference in Lake Buena Vista, FL. Her session, Career Center Strategies and the Role, Impact, and Future of A.I. Solutions, will focus on VMock. She will be joined by Colleen Withers as co-presenter.
And earlier this year, in the fall, Melissa Thiriez presented at the Mountain Pacific Association of Colleges and Employers' Annual Conference in Tucson, AZ. Her session, Building Honest Conversations About Diversity in the Workplace: Diversity Works Expo, focused on Diversity Works. Chris Harris helped develop the proposal.
I'm extremely proud of this team for their contributions to the field of career services and for continuing to establish the Career Center as a source of innovative programming and thought leadership at both the regional and national levels.
As always, I am excited to work together to deliver on the promise of higher education for all of our students: a good job, social capital, and economic mobility in pursuit of a more humane, just and sustainable world.
Thank you,
|

Record Turnout at 6th Annual Diversity Works
On Wednesday, February 22 in the Locatelli Student Activity Center, we held our sixth annual Diversity Works Expo & Awards where we brought together more than 150 students, employers, industry experts, staff and faculty in a celebration of diversity in the workplace.
"This experience really encouraged and made possible open conversation about DEI in the workplace - and created a culture in sharing authentically both in the round table discussions and also in the reverse career fair. Thank you so much for the opportunity to participate. It was fantastic!!"
Diversity Works, led by Chris Harris, Melissa Thiriez and Amanuel Bizuneh, set records this year in multiple categories, including the number of student submissions, the amount of money awarded to students, and student and employer attendance. One hundred percent of attendees shared that the event either met or exceeded their expectations.
This year's event was co-sponsored by Enterprise Rent-A-Car and ServiceNow who made it possible for us to award a total of $10,000 to five students and five student organizations who have demonstrated a commitment to and understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion in relation to career and professional development.
