Dear Colleagues —
With graduation just around the corner, I'd like to highlight one of our major quarterly programs: the Recent Grad Job Search Program, expertly and empathetically led by Myriam Bartz, Assistant Director of Career Development for Graduate Students and Alumni. This program is specifically designed to support new grads who are still looking for employment.
First piloted in fall 2022, we are now preparing to launch the seventh cohort this summer. More than 100 students have participated since its inception, and 60 percent report securing employment during or soon after completing the program (according to data collected through the First Destination Survey).
One recent participant, Emily Conn '23, credits this group with helping her secure a position as a Project Specialist at Cisco.
Emily Conn '23 Management
"The Recent Grad Job Search Program was truly transformative. It equipped me with an effective job search strategy, positively reshaped my mindset about the job search process, and helped strengthen skills like negotiation and interview confidence. The continuous feedback from peers and coaches was invaluable and fostered a supportive community. I am forever thankful for the experience and am very excited to start my career!"

If you know any graduating students (undergraduate or graduate) who are still looking for post-graduation employment, please encourage them to sign up.
Questions about the program? Please email Myriam Bartz at mbartz2@scu.edu.
As always, I am excited to work together to deliver on the promise of higher education for all of our students: a good job, social capital, and economic mobility in pursuit of a more humane, just and sustainable world.
Thank you,
|

Center for Sustainability, Career Center Present to The Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education
On Wednesday, May 29, the Center for Sustainability and the Career Center hosted a webinar titled "Building the Next Generation of Climate Leaders" for The Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AAHSE).
Veronica Johnson, Dylan Houle and Lindsey Kalkbrenner discussed the Silicon Valley Power (SVP) Sustainability Futures Program. Then, three students—Sally Walsh '24, Emil Chaia '25, and Chrislyn Brandon '25—shared their experiences as fellows in the program.
Thank you to Lindsey and Veronica for inviting the Career Center to be a part of this. The SVP Sustainable Futures Program is a great example of cross-campus collaboration involving multiple stakeholders within and outside the university!

Sunsetting "Big Interview" Platform
The Career Center is currently considering whether or not to renew our contract with Big Interview, which expires at the end of June 2024.
Our team has conducted an extensive review of free and lower-cost alternatives. We found that LinkedIn's Interview Prep tool provides similar features and benefits, but at no cost. We are considering directing students to the LinkedIn tool going forward, but we would like to invite comment from the community before making this decision.
- Do you use Big Interview in your work with students?
- How would us not renewing our Big Interview contract affect your work?
- What type of feedback, if any, do you hear from students regarding Big Interview?
- Have you heard of other alternatives to Big Interview that you would recommend?
Please send comments and questions to Colleen Withers at cwithers@scu.edu no later than Sunday, June 16.

Celebrating our Student Employees
On Thursday, May 30, the Career Center celebrated the contributions of our student employees with a fun ice cream social. In Career Center tradition, we also gave our graduating students — Allison Hoff, Max Campos, and Mohan Raj Chandrasekar — alumni license plate frames for them to affix to their car as they drive off into the future!
Thank you to our Peer Career Advisors (PCAs) Allison Hoff, Anna Chen, Benjamin Brentnall, Gema Sanchez Gamez, Marcus Kirk, Max Campos, Payton Pemberton, Shiv Jhalani, and Shreya Gupta — our graduate student interns Demetria Quijada, Mohan Raj Chandrasekar, and Sandy Masson — and our Cristo Rey student worker, Gio Ortiz. For all you have done for the Career Center and your fellow students, we are extremely grateful.
Shout out to Nöel Kreidler, Associate Director of Career Development and Campus Integration, who manages our PCA program. Nöel not only planned this wonderful celebration, but thoughtfully invited Shellie Barber, former manager of the PCA program, to drop in for a surprise visit!
