Dear Colleagues —
Summer is a time to reflect on the many accomplishments of the past academic year, and also to prepare for the coming year. Here in the Career Center, it's also a time to celebrate the many students who are starting new internships or their first job out of college.
Throughout the year, our student-employee Allison Hoff '24, interviewed students as part of our Student Spotlight series to surface and share their unique and compelling stories of career success. Click the videos below to hear how these students leveraged the Career Center and the many resources available to them at Santa Clara to begin achieving their career goals
As always, I am excited to work together to deliver on the promise of higher education for all of our students: a good job, social capital, and economic mobility in pursuit of a more humane, just and sustainable world.
Thank you,
Welcoming Britannia Gillanders
The Career Center is pleased to announce that Britannia Gillanders has joined our team as the Assistant Director of Career Development supporting students pursuing careers in the Arts, Humanities and Public Sector.
In this role, she will work closely and primarily with students, staff and faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences. She will also serve as a co-administrator of Bronco Exchange alongside our good partners in the Alumni Office and Student Life. She will report to Colleen Withers.
Most recently, Britannia worked as an Academic Advisor and Disability Services Specialist at Menlo College in nearby Atherton, CA where she, among many other things, worked closely with the Office of Internships & Career Services to advise students on experiential learning requirements, including CPT/OPT guidelines for international students. She was also responsible for ensuring equitable access and accommodations for students with disabilities. Previously she worked as a teacher and educational assistant at Ladue Middle School in Ladue, MO.
Originally from Saskatchewan, Canada, Britannia holds a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership, Policy, and Development from the University of Minnesota and a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Lindenwood University.
As we welcome Britannia, I want to take this opportunity to thank Colleen Withers, for leading a highly efficient search process. I also want to thank the search committee – Melissa, Thiriez, Zach Plaza and Sarah Hays – who helped to identify the strongest candidates. And most importantly, thank you to the Career Center staff. For all of the time and energy invested in this process, I am very grateful.
Please feel free to send Britannia a note of welcome and congratulations at bgillanders@scu.edu.
