Dear Colleagues —
Welcome back! On behalf of all of us in the Career Center, I hope you had a restful and restorative holiday break. I write to share with you a few brief but important updates as we head into this new year.
Successful Director Search Concludes »
I am thrilled to announce that our search to fill the newly created Director of Career Development & Campus Integration position has successfully concluded. Thank you to the job search committee, our partners in Human Resources, and the many staff and faculty who shared the position with their network. A formal announcement and introduction will be sent next month.
Survey of Recent Graduates »
Did someone say they wanted more data? The Career Center and the Office of Institutional Research have formalized a joint partnership to update, deploy and manage the Survey of Recent Graduates (SRG). We expect this new collaboration will result in higher knowledge rates and more timely and actionable insights.
Employer Sponsorship Program »
We are designing an employer sponsorship program to provide companies tiered opportunities for increased visibility among students. Melissa Thiriez, Director of Employer Relations & Partnerships, is leading this effort. If the work you do would align with or benefit from an employer sponsorship program, please reach out to Melissa at mthiriez@scu.edu.
As always, I am excited to work together to deliver on the promise of higher education for all of our students: a good job, social capital, and economic mobility in pursuit of a more humane, just and sustainable world.
Thank you,
|

Fraudulent Job Postings Alert
Handshake has made significant progress in recent years in identifying and removing fraudulent employers and postings. While rare, we have historically observed an uptick in fraudulent activity during times of economic uncertainty.
Help us help students to watch out for these red flags:
- An employer contacts you by phone, but the number is blocked or not available and there's no way to return the call.
- An employer contacts you by email directly, offering you a job you didn't apply for, or inviting you to apply for a job that isn't posted on a reputable site.
- You're asked to cash or deposit a check on behalf of someone else, then return a portion of the cash to them and keep the remainder.
- An employer contacts you, but their email does not match the company domain or they have zero online presence.
The Career Center will continue to educate students about job search safety.
