Dear Colleagues —
Over the past several months, the Career Center has reached out to you—our friends, colleagues, and campus partners—for help nominating, recommending, and referring students for several major initiatives we're working on for the new year. I have been amazed and humbled by how you have shown up for us.
On behalf of my team, THANK YOU for your incredible support; here's a brief summary of the student impact you're helping us make:
Career Clarity Retreat with Campus Ministry and CAPS January 4-5, 2025 | Vallombrosa Center, Menlo Park
- 41 students have applied for 26 spots
- This is the second-highest number of applicants since the retreat first started in 2020
Diversity Works Expo & Awards Wednesday, February 12, 2025, 3-6 p.m.
- 30 faculty and staff nominated 40 students and student organizations
- This is an 87.5% increase over last year of the number of faculty and staff who submitted nominations
- 130 students and 43 student organizations have completed an award submission
SCUxSU Possible Tech Career Accelerator Cohort #1 launches in February; Cohort #2 launches in April
- 54 faculty, staff and Possible alumni nominated 150 students from across the university (a 15% increase over last year)
- 111 students have either accepted or postponed their nomination
- The program is competitive: just 50 students from Santa Clara will be selected to participate
Bay Area A.I. Industry Immersion March 24-27 | San Francisco Bay Area
- 48 students have applied for 24 spots
- Students will go behind the scenes at companies like Adobe, HP, Nutanix, Okta, and more
- This immersion is funded by a Regents Experiential Learning Initiative (RELI) grant
This is work we cannot do alone, and these numbers are an excellent reflection of Santa Clara University's commitment to a "career everywhere" strategy.
As always, I am excited to work together to deliver on the promise of higher education for all of our students: a good job, social capital, and economic mobility in pursuit of a more humane, just and sustainable world.

Fifty Students Participate in "Students at the Stadium" Hosted by SF 49ers
On Tuesday, November 19, fifty Santa Clara students joined hundreds of other local college students for the San Francisco 49ers' annual "Students at the Stadium" event to learn how to break into the sports industry.
One of the students who attended, Jasmine Santacruz '27 (pictured, bottom center, on left), wrote about the experience on LinkedIn: "The day was packed with professional development, networking, and behind-the-scenes insights into the sports industry. A standout moment was participating in a breakout session on Game Day Production & Training Camp. ... Thank you to the San Francisco 49ers and their incredible team for organizing such a transformative event. The insight, inspiration, and connections I’ve gained are invaluable, and I’m excited to continue learning and growing in the sports industry."
Huge shout out to Amanuel Bizuneh, Assistant Director of Employer Relations, who not only helped promote the event and coordinate travel to and from Levi's Stadium, but also worked a few personal connections behind the scenes to bring cornerback Isaac Yiadom (#22) out to mix and mingle with the students.
Thank you also to Lauren Redman, Veronica Villa, Marqus Koranteng, and Sarah Dagnino for helping and participating!

Students Attend Bay Area Human Resource Executives Council (BAHREC) Meeting
In November, the Career Center hosted our third annual Executive-in-Residence program. This year featured Marco Rosa (pictured below, left), a former Vice President of Human Resources and Corporate Services who has held key positions at General Electric Company, Sony Electronics, and others.
Marco is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Bay Area Human Resource Executives Council (BAHREC), where he serves as the College Relations representative.
After meeting students Tyler Singh '26 and Virginia Corbo '27 (pictured, second and third from left) through the EIR program, Marco invited them to attend a quarterly BAHREC meeting hosted at ReCode Therapeutics in Menlo Park. At this meeting, they met and networked with several dozen senior HR executives.
We are so grateful to Marco for volunteering his time and opening up his network and also so proud of Tyler and Virginia for taking advantage of these exciting networking and professional development opportunities!
