Dear Colleagues —
With the year coming to a close, I'm pleased to share an update on the progress we've made so far on the third and final pillar of our three-pillar strategy of Predict, Intrude and Introduce.
How well have we introduced students to our services and resources, alumni and employers, and internship and job opportunities?
1 in 4 of All Students*
This fall quarter, we diligently tracked unique and total student engagement. Now, for the first time, we can report exactly how many students — and exactly which students — used our services and resources in the fall quarter.
I'm excited to share that 25% of all students engaged with one or more of the Career Center's services/resources this fall quarter. *This excludes graduate business students, law school students, and JST students.
- Undergraduate only: 1571 unique interactions; 3,290 total interactions
- Undergraduate and Graduate: 1959 unique interactions; 4,070 total interactions
As always, I am excited to work together to deliver on the promise of higher education for all of our students: a good job, social capital, and economic mobility in pursuit of a more humane, just and sustainable world.
Thank you,
|

*New Record* 100+ Submissions for Diversity Works Awards
We are pleased to share that 82 students and 19 student organizations completed a submission for our annual flagship event Diversity Works Expo & Awards scheduled for Wednesday, February 22, 2023.
This is a 100% increase in the number of submissions from our previous high in 2021. A special thank you to the many staff, faculty and student leaders from across campus who submitted nominations.
The Career Center team is currently reviewing the submissions and winners will be contacted later this month. (If a student that you nominated is selected, you will also be contacted.)
Five students and up to five student organizations will be recognized at the event and each will be awarded $1,000 (up to a total of $10,000) through the generous sponsorships of ServiceNow and Enterprise Holdings, Inc. All staff and faculty are invited to attend so please hold the date on your calendar.

Melissa Thiriez presents at MPACE
The Career Center is proud to share that Melissa Thiriez, Director of Employer Relations & Partnerships, recently presented at the Mountain Pacific Association of Colleges & Employers' (MPACE) annual conference in Tucson, Arizona. The session — "Building Honest Conversations about Diversity in the Workplace: Diversity Works Expo" — was developed in collaboration with Chris Harris as well as with former SCU Career Center employee Priscilla Vallejo (now at UC Berkeley).
Diversity Works Expo & Awards was first produced by the Career Center six years ago and has since grown into not just a flagship event here at Santa Clara University but also a burgeoning best practice in the field of career services. |
