Dear Colleagues —
As many of you know, the Career Center and the Office of Institutional Research, advised by a cross-campus taskforce, undertook a major effort to update and strategically deploy the First Destination Survey (FDS) (fka Survey of Recent Graduates).
Now, I can report that the first phase of the deployment is complete and we successfully achieved a record high response rate at both the undergraduate and graduate levels (see previous year response rates).
- 55% undergraduate response rate
- 79% graduate student response rate
does not include grad business and law
The results of this survey will give us unprecedented level of insight into our students' post-graduation career outcomes at time of graduation. The Office of Institutional Research will begin to clean and sort the data, and we will make available the results (internally) as soon as possible.
Thank you to Conor Roycroft, the entire Career Center team, and all who have supported this historic effort: Amelia Fuller, Amy Eriksson, Amy Randall, Brenda Versteeg, Brett Solomon, Britt Cain, Cary Watson, Casey Robertson, Christelle Sabatier, Cory Gong, Daniel Press, Daniel Turkeltaub, Diane Idemoto, Ed Grier, Elaine Scott, Frank Farris, Jana Hee, Janice Jorgenson, Jessica Gopp, Jia Seow, Jim Bennett, Jo-Anne Shibles, Joseph Morris, José Ortigas, Kathy Stoehr, Katie Williams, Katy Korsmeyer, Lee Panich, Lisa Swendsen, Lisa Whitfield, Melissa Brotherton, Pauline Phuong Nguyen, Ruth Mikusko, Sarah Hays, Scott LaBarge, Shane Wibeto, Stacey Tinker, Toby McChesney, and Takeshi Moro.
As always, I am excited to work together to deliver on the promise of higher education for all of our students: a good job, social capital, and economic mobility in pursuit of a more humane, just and sustainable world.
Thank you,
|

Summer Workshop Series
Our Summer Workshop Series continues! More than 200 Santa Clara students and alumni have registered. And because these workshops are free and open to the public, other registrants and participants have included people from Stanford's SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, North Carolina State University, Vanderbilt University and more. Just one way the Career Center continues to deliver value far beyond our campus.

Congratulations and Farewell to Shellie Barber
It is with mixed emotions that I share that Shellie Barber, Assistant Director of Events and Operations, recently accepted a new position outside of Santa Clara University. Her last day was Friday, July 28.
Shellie first joined the Career Center in May 2016 and has made significant contributions in her 7+ years here. Among them, Shellie oversaw all five of our annual career fairs and managed our dynamic team of student Peer Career Advisors. Shellie leaves the Career Center well positioned for continued impact. She wished to share this note:
I would like to express my sincerest gratitude for the SCU community and how wonderful it is to be a part of such a caring environment. I'd also like to celebrate and acknowledge the amazing team at the Career Center who work so diligently to provide students with a successful start to their career journey. Go Broncos! I invite you to stay connected with me on LinkedIn.
The Career Center will now move forward in hiring for Shellie's successor. |
