Do you have a favorite class that you are taking? Why?
My favorite class right now is called "Cultural Geographies," which I am taking for my Sustainability minor. The course discusses how cultures are shaped by politics and geography, and the curriculum includes taking exploratory walks around East London. It also fulfills the culture requirement for anyone studying abroad at QMUL!
What do you like about your program/university?
I really appreciate the many opportunities to get involved and meet other students on campus. There are lots of international students here from America and other countries as well, and it's easy to find people with similar interests through societies and events.
What has been your favorite place that you visited so far or favorite part about your city? Why?
My favorite place to visit in London is Borough Market, which is one of the oldest and largest food markets in the city. I go there at least once a week to try out a different cuisine, and I have had a great meal every time!
What advice would you give to the 2024 abroad students?
Keep an open mind! You will certainly encounter new cultures and perspectives that may differ from what you're used to. Rather than comparing these differences to what you know, try to discern the "why" behind them, as this will enrich your understanding and appreciation of your host culture.
