What are you doing this summer? I'm currently working at Morgan Stanley in their Wealth Management Division's Capital Markets Group as a Summer Analyst. Morgan Stanley's Wealth Management Capital Markets Group provides subject matter expertise to Financial Advisors to help them best service their clients. To that end, I'm rotating across their Equities, Fixed Income, and Structured Investments and Solutions desks and spending three weeks in each group to learn the asset classes and develop and pitch trade ideas.
What has been the most memorable part of your experience? Rotating across all of the different groups has been both challenging and lively. I've had as little as six days in some cases to learn a new asset class, do a deep dive on the product, synthesize a trade idea, and then pitch it to the Sales and Trading Team for that asset class. Pushing myself in such a fast paced environment has been a huge learning experience.
One thing you have learned during this summer experience? How to adapt in such a challenging and fast paced environment as well as how to be comfortable being uncomfortable. The pace of my summer's internship has been intense and time management has never been so important. Adapting to the speed that new information and tasks have been coming at me has been a beneficial but steep learning curve.
