Finance Major, Computer Science Minor
Vail, CO
Areas of Interest at SCU and Leavey: As a Finance major minoring in Computer Science, I am interested in exploring the intersection of finance and technology, particularly in areas like FinTech, data analytics, and investment banking. I aim to develop strong analytical and technical skills while collaborating with peers on innovative projects that drive meaningful impact. Through SCU’s interdisciplinary opportunities, I hope to contribute to both the SCU community and the broader financial industry.
What are your SCU and Leavey activities/general hobbies: Along with Leavey Ambassadors, I am part of SCU Investment Club and Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). When I am outside the classroom I enjoy skiing, rock climbing, solo travelling, watching F1, and pushing the limits of Microsoft Excel.
What internship/employment opportunities have you taken advantage of at Leavey? During my time at Leavey I have used the career center and Handshake to help me tailor my resume for internships. I have also attended several networking events such as the accounting career fair in order to develop my network.
Favorite Leavey Class and Why? My favorite class so far has definitely been Business 70 with Professor Michael Smith. I found this class to be incredibly engaging; bringing in guest speakers and using a simulation called Mikes Bikes to provide realistic business operation experience.
What made you choose to attend Leavey? I chose to attend Leavey because of its small class sizes, which create an engaging and supportive learning environment where I can build meaningful connections with professors and classmates. The Silicon Valley location was also a major factor, providing endless opportunities for internships, networking, and exposure to some of the world’s leading finance and tech companies. Leavey’s balance of academic rigor and real-world accessibility offers the perfect setting to develop both my financial expertise and technical skills, preparing me for a successful career at the intersection of finance and technology.
What advice you wish you had while applying to college? My number one piece of advice when applying to college is to not only consider academics but also campus life and opportunity in the surrounding area. Academics is only one part of your experience in college and it's important that you enjoy the other components as well. That is why you should research clubs, sports, and all the different things happening on campus before you decide.
