Areas of Interest at SCU and LSB: As an Economics major I am interested in studying the impact of social and psychological factors on consumer decision making. I am also interested in business analytics as I enjoy using statistics to guide business decision-making.
What are your SCU and LSB activities/general hobbies: Some clubs I am involved in are Women in Business and Ski club! I love to spend my weekends going to lake tahoe with friends, playing soccer on Bellomy Field or going to San Francisco for some amazing food. Traveling is a big passion of mine, and I plan to study abroad in the Netherlands!
What internship/employment opportunities have you taken advantage of at LSB: Through Women in Business I have attended career fairs and guest speaker events. Some of these events include tips on resumes and professional presence. I have also used vmock, a site that helps you make your resume more impactful through formatting and grammar tips. As internship applications can be overwhelming, I have found handshake to be an extremely helpful tool. Handshake allows me to narrow down my search by location and major, view online events companies are hosting, see specific employers that hire from SCU.
Favorite LSB Class and Why? My favorite LSB class thus far has been Econ 113- Intermediate Microeconomics. My professor, Serguei Maliar kept the class interesting and was always willing to answer questions during class. Econ 113 was an introduction to what topics I might cover in a future career in economics. Some of these topics include how consumers are limited when making decisions and how preferences affect one's decision.
What made you choose to attend LSB? The small class sizes and professors' experience and proximity to growing companies in the technology sector were all factors that contributed to my decision to attend LSB. The small class sizes promotes open dialogue between students and professors. Students can easily access professors through office hours.
What advice you wish you had while applying to college? When applying to college don't only consider academics but also student life and opportunities in the surrounding community. Academics is only one part of a student's college experience! Research the clubs, sports, and different events the school hosts for freshmen. Don't be afraid to reach out to current students attending the school, they would love to answer any questions you may have!
