Areas of Interest at SCU and Leavey: I am currently undeclared within the Leavey school of Business, but I am interested in financial technology, and plan on exploring Management Information Systems or Finance. Many minors at Leavey interest me as well including Entrepreneurship and Real Estate.
What are your SCU and Leavey activities/general hobbies: I am a part of the Santa Clara Investment Fund, Blockchain@SCU Club, and the LEAD scholars program. In general, I love exploring new restaurants with friends, crafts, beach volleyball, and karaoke.
What internship/employment opportunities have you taken advantage of at Leavey? SCU has plenty of resources available to students including the Bronco Exchange Network, which helps students connect with alumni in fields they are interested in. A great resource I use often is Handshake to find internship positions to apply to. As a freshman, I hope to leverage both my experiences I am having in school with the support I have at my fingertips to land an internship in the future.
Favorite Leavey Class and Why?  Business 70 with Nik Tehrani my first quarter at Leavey was one of my best experiences during the beginning of freshman year. I was able to get familiarized with things like accounting, marketing, and finance. I not only learned a great foundation for key business concepts but I was taught by one of the most passionate teachers, who inspired me in many ways. During this period of time, I was recruiting for SCIF and advise from Dr. Tehrani helped me through the process.
What made you choose to attend Leavey? I choose to attend Leavey because my dad's family originally lived in the Bay Area and I was intrigued by the location. After learning about the small Jesuit school in the heart of Silicon Valley, I found an incredibly innovative business school that would give me a competitive edge when exploring different career paths. SCU's holistic approach to educating future leaders also played a large role in my college decision process, as I knew I wanted a well-rounded education outside of my business courses.
What advice you wish you had while applying to college? If I could speak with my senior year self, I would definitely emphasize the fact of going to visit the colleges I think I am interested in. I was applying to many colleges outside of California without thinking about the distance. I think you get a good sense of your compatibility with a university once you walk around its campus, which is why I am here today. I think knowing you belong at a school really does come naturally once you find yourself in the physical space, so if you have the chance to visit you 100% should!
