Favorite LSB Class and Why? BUSN 70 with Jim Burns due to the community you build within the classroom and how those relationships carry throughout your time at LSB. Not to mention, Mike's Bikes was a fun way to learn while compete with other in your class. You truly get to learn about all aspects of business through the simulation and get an amazing group of friends!
What made you choose to attend LSB? The three main factors that made me choose LSB were the location, class sizes and community. As we are located in the Silicon Valley, I was interested in working on the business side of a tech company; hence, we are in the technology capital, so there are many resources to achieve this goal. In addition, there are a plentiful of opportunities to join start-ups in the Bay Area and I made sure to take full advantage of that, joining Quill Payments, my freshman year. Additionally, I work well in smaller class sizes as everyone is held accountable to be engaged and create a conducive learning environment. The small classes sizes in the LSB allows me to build relationships with my teachers while also having the opportunity to collaborate with my peers on projects and other assignments. Last but not least, from the moment I stepped on campus, I felt a sense of community and now that I have joined the LSB community, I realize the power of prioritizing a sense of genuine relationships among peers. Everyone is always waving and eager to meet new people, creating a strong sense of collaboration among students. This theme extends towards our alumni network as graduated Bronco's are always willing to help me explore new fields and companies and come back to speak for events for the greater LSB community!
What advice you wish you had while applying to college? College is an amazing experience, but it is a stressful journey to get there. My first piece of advice is take a step back and BREATH... Picking the school you choose to spend your next four years may seem like a big decision, but trust me time moves by fast once you are in college. Hence, I would recommend visiting colleges and notice how students interact with each other because in reality that might be you one day! In addition, it is important to think about what settings you work best in. Do you like collaborating? Do you work better individually? These are questions that can help you narrow down how large you want your class sizes. Lastly, don't be afraid to reach out and ask questions to students who go to the prospective school you want to attend because you are able to answer get information from a personal source instead of just from the internet. I can assure you that you will have a great time in college and hopefully become a Bronco one day!
