Pearl Pham: Finding the Perfect Place to Study

Walking through Santa Clara University, you’ll notice that many students are scattered throughout the campus sitting in certain locations with their laptops opened and headphones on. These students are heavily focused on the work and choose to be productive in the spot they feel most comfortable. Choosing the right location to study in is beneficial to your academic success and can certainly make the process much more enjoyable.

When choosing the perfect study spot in college, you should consider your personality and where you’ve felt most productive. Maybe you’re the type of person who likes a warm, cozy interior where there’s some foot traffic and people chattering. Benson could be the perfect place for you as it’s the school’s cafeteria and has nice lounging seats with tables to work at. You can even grab some food while you’re working and wave to a couple friends passing by if you’d like. But if you’re the type of person that needs somewhere quiet and non distracting, the library and Lucas Hall are great choices. Lucas is quiet at certain hours and offers rooms you can reserve for yourself to work in. It also has a stunning patio with an even more stunning view (the perfect place to enjoy the sunset). The library on campus isn’t your typical boring library, it comes with a 100-foot-tall robot that delivers you books. The library also has a stunning patio and rooms you can reserve paired with lovely art pieces. Also, on days where Santa Clara’s warm and sunny weather is especially apparent, you’ll see many students laying picnic blankets on open grass fields and working there. While they’re soaking up the sunshine their brains are soaking up class lectures and recordings. On days like this, I highly recommend working in the Mission Gardens. It’s truly the most beautiful and serene location on campus to study and it occasionally comes equipped with tables and chairs. Another notable spot is the Sobrato Campus for Discovery and Innovation (the new STEM building). This is my personal favorite because it has many study spots to choose from inside a highly modern and industrial setting. The best thing about this building is their fine-dining cafe that offers smoothies, creme brulees, sliders, and more unique options.

Santa Clara University has many attractive and compelling study spots that will boost your productivity and confidence while working. There’s still so many other options to choose from like Charney Hall, Shappell Lounge, the Graham courtyard, and more. Overall, you’ll certainly never run out of options when deciding where to spend your hours doing work.
