Activities involved in at SCU and in LSB: Business 70 (Contemporary Business Issues) TA; Young Life Leader (A Christian organization on campus that leads high schoolers through the struggles of life and in fun activities); Zero-Interest Microfinance.
Outside of school, I continue to pursue a passion for photography by attempting to capture the beauty of the world through a lens.
What global experiences have you had in college?
During my time at SCU, I had the opportunity to study abroad during the Fall of 2019 at Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia. Here, I learned about the history of the country and the Indigenous communities of Australia.
What internship/employment opportunities have you taken advantage of at LSB?
The LSB has opened my eyes to a world of possibilities through potential employment and internship opportunists. Most of my experiences have been through career fairs and panels. I have not yet been able to take on an internship or other employment opportunities. However, I have been able to start networking and learning tips and tricks on how to interview well for future job opportunities. And the knowledge stemmed directly from meeting potential future employers through LSB’s wide range of connections from the top financial firms to governmental organizations.
Favorite LSB class. Why?
So far, the best class has been Financial Accounting. Going into this class I was a little nervous due to the history of hearing the struggles that people have had with the course. However, this class not only discussed basic accounting, but it started to give insight into what accounting majors and finance majors could do with their degree. In other words, it was the first course that solidified that I picked the correct choice in choosing to be a finance over an accounting major. This course began to show the differences in the career paths and throughout the class, it became obvious that the financial aspects of companies interested me more than the accounting procedures. Overall, it is the class I most enjoyed because the professor helped to demonstrate that my major is the correct one for my interests.
What made you choose to attend LSB?
The biggest contributing factor in my choice of attending LSB is the caliber of the professors and the environment that is fostered within the school. Most of the faculty come from not only educational backgrounds but have professional experience in their field. Their experience then allows them to relate the terms and knowledge from the textbooks to the real world. This helped shape my decision in a strong way because I didn't just want to memorize material for a test, but desired to understand how the information could then be used in the real world. These professors are the main reason I chose to attend LSB instead of other business schools because they foster an environment that expands an individual’s knowledge of the real world.
What advice you wish you had while applying to college?
Do not let the stress take over your life and become all-consuming. The process of applying to college is not easy or short. It is time-consuming and can make an individual feel as though they are drowning in all the essays and stress. So long story short, do not let the process take over your life. Wherever you end up, the most important thing is to take all the opportunities given to you and live in the moment.
