Kirthi Kalyanam : Target Effect : KPIX
Kirthi Kalyanam, L.J. Skaggs Distinguished Professor and director of the Retail Management Institute, was featured in a KPIX segment about the Target Effect. The Target Effect, as defined by Urban Dictionary, is “the result of going into a store, intending to buy a few things, and leaving with much more and frequently happens while shopping at Target.” Kalayanam describes how Target has intentionally created this type of atmosphere in comparison with competitors like Amazon.
