Michele Samorani
Michele Samorani joined the Department of Information Systems & Analytics at the Leavey School of Business in 2016, where he teaches Information Systems courses at the undergraduate and master level.
His research develops and employs data analytics techniques to improve operations in health care and marketing. Several of his projects were carried out in collaboration with companies and organizations: he has assisted a pharmaceutical company in improving its drug discovery process, he has developed methods to improve appointment scheduling in an outpatient mental health clinic by predicting patient no-shows, and he has developed a software tool to support real-time decisions in a university campus hospital.
Michele’s research has been published on Production and Operations Management, INFORMS Journal on Computing, Decision Support Systems, and the European Journal of Operational Research. He has received the INFORMS Data Mining Best Student Paper Award in 2009 for his work on Molecule Classification.
He earned his undergraduate and Master’s degree in computer science from the University of Bologna and his Ph.D. in operations and information management from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
