Dr. Mario Belotti is the W.M. Keck Foundation Professor. He has taught economics in both the graduate and undergraduate programs. He has been teaching at Santa Clara University since the Fall of 1959. He served as Chair of the Economics Department from 1962 to 1984 and as the Director of the Institute of Agribusiness from 1988 to 1996. His fields of interest are macroeconomic theory, monetary theory and policy and economic development.

Dr. Belotti has lectured in numerous management development programs; he has written numerous articles in periodicals and newspapers; he has participated in the writing of a large number of development project reports, he organized and chaired 32 Santa Clara University Economic Symposiums and has participated in more than 40 Economic Forecasts. He speaks frequently to various business and community groups on current economic issues.

Dr. Belotti has spent many summers as an economic consultant in developing countries. In this last capacity, he has worked in Brazil, Honduras, Ecuador, Sudan, Egypt, Iran, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Thailand, Bulgaria, Hungary, Nepal and Eritrea.

Dr. Belotti received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration in 1954 and a Master of Arts Degree in Accounting in 1955 from Midwestern University. He obtained a Ph.D. in Economics in 1960 from the University of Texas, Austin.

Dr. Belotti is married and lives in Saratoga California. He and his wife have three children and seven grandchildren.

In January 2015 Dr. Belotti published his book: It Was All for the Love of a Horse: A Life Story.
