Brian Dela Pena

Quarterly Lecturer, Accounting

Brian J. Dela Pena joined the accounting department as adjunct faculty in Fall 2018. He primarily teaches financial accounting: ACTG 20 (Reporting Financial Transactions) and more recently ACTG 11 (Financial Accounting) in the undergraduate level and ACTG 2608 (Introduction to Financial Accounting) in the graduate school of business.

Brian brings nearly 20 years of professional experience into the classroom. He started his accounting career at EY (in the San Jose office) and then built global experience across leading technology companies throughout Silicon Valley (Adobe, Cisco, Dropbox, and VMware). Brian has extensive experience in Mergers & Acquisitions finance (he managed nearly 35 transactions over a four-year period), financial planning & analysis, and corporate accounting and financial reporting matters. He has had the opportunity to work on two initial public offerings (IPO’s) – the first as during his tenure at EY as one of the lead seniors on the Google IPO and more recently, as the Assistant Corporate Controller at Dropbox where he led the accounting and finance team’s IPO preparation and execution. He currently is a senior leader at VMware where he is responsible for all accounting & finance operations and manages a team of 250 professionals worldwide.

Brian graduated from Santa Clara University in 2001 with a degree in Accounting and is a CPA.
