Dr. Yongtae Kim
Dr. Kim joined Santa Clara in 2001 after receiving his doctorate from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Born in Korea, Dr. Kim received his B.A. in Business and M.A. in Business both from Sogang University in Korea. Dr. Kim obtained his C.P.A. license in Korea and worked for KPMG Korea for two and a half years before he came to U.S. to pursue his doctoral degree.
Dr. Kim holds the Ernst & Young Faculty Research Fellowship. He is a passionate and prolific scholar and has a diverse interest in financial economics, accounting, and management-related issues. He has published more than twenty articles, many of which appear in leading academic journals including The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Journal of Accounting Research, Management Science, and Journal of Financial Economics. Dr. Kim is a recipient of several research awards and grants including the Moskowits Prize for Socially Responsible Investing and PWC InQuires Grants. Recognized for his research excellence and his contribution to the accounting literature, Dr. Kim was awarded the University Award for Recent Achievement in Scholarship in 2014.
Dr. Kim’s primary teaching responsibility at Santa Clara includes financial and managerial accounting at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.
Yongtae, his wife, and their teenage son live in Saratoga. In his spare time, he enjoys great food, watching the NBA, and spending time with his family.
Besides being an avid researcher, Dr. Kim is also known in our department to be ultra-organized and well planned. We look forward to the next three years under his leadership.
