Background
John is the National Managing Partner of Audit for KPMG LLP and is based in New York. His overall responsibilities include managing the U.S. operations of the Audit practice, including operational, financial and personnel matters.
Professional and Industry Experience
John joined KPMG in 1989 and worked primarily with publicly traded and private software and SaaS companies in the Silicon Valley. In 2001, John completed a two-year rotation through KPMG’s Department of Professional Practice (DPP), KPMG’s national resource center for technical accounting, auditing and SEC filing matters. Until recently, he served as one of the firm’s SEC Reviewing Partners, a select group of KPMG partners with exceptional technical accounting skills responsible for reviewing public company financial statements before KPMG releases an audit opinion.
From 2012 through 2015, he served as the partner in-charge of KPMG’s Northern California Audit practice and as a member of our Technology, Media & Telecommunications (TMT) practice.
Publications and Speaking Engagements
John assisted in the development of several KPMG publications, including KPMG’s original stock compensation handbook, KPMG’s e-commerce handbook, Defining the Digital Future – Business and Accounting Issues, and served as a technical reviewer for KPMG’s software revenue recognition handbook. John has been a presenter at numerous contemporary accounting issues seminars and continues to serve as a national resource on software revenue recognition.
