Robert “Bob” Peters was the captain of the Santa Clara’s Men’s basketball team for the 1951-1952 season. During that season Peters averaged 10.1 points per game and shot .654 at the free throw line. The 1952 season was exceptionally special for the Men’s Basketball team because it marked the first time in school history that the Broncos made it all the way to the NCAA tournament. There, they shocked the nation by beating the 19th seeded UCLA Bruins in the Sweet Sixteen. The Broncos then upset Wyoming to advance to the Final Four.
