By the end of his college career, Jones had led the Broncos to 2 Western Football Conference Championships. The three-time All-Conference selection, Jones ranks second all-time in school history with 137 career receptions, fourth with 2,267 receiving yards, fourth in scoring with 200 points, and third with 24 touchdown receptions. Jones spent 12 seasons with the San Francisco 49ers. He was named All-Pro four times, was a member of three Super Bowl championship teams, and set the 49ers record for most career receiving yards by a tight end (747). In 1998, Jones was named NFL "Good Samaritan" of the Year. Jones was inducted into the Division II Football Hall of Fame in 2001 and the College Football Hall of Fame in 2002.
