Earlier this year, the Alumni Association launched Bronco Exchange, Student & Alumni Connections, in partnership with SCU’s Career Center and Division of Student Life. Bronco Exchange isn’t just “another career platform,” it's a space where Santa Clara’s values are lived and the strengths of the Bronco network are magnified.
We caught up with Graham Neuburger ’06, an avid user and advocate of Bronco Exchange, to find out what drew him to the platform, what he’s gained from the experience, and how being a Bronco has shaped his professional journey. Here's what Graham had to say:
Q: Let’s start with the basics. You graduated from SCU in 2006. What did you study while you were here?
A: I majored in political science and also minored in general business.
Q: You’re currently Vice President of Marketing at OLIPOP. You’ve also worked at big-name brands like Nike and Converse. How did your time at Santa Clara prepare you for that journey?
A: More than anything, Santa Clara provided an environment built on a belief in unlimited possibility and an understanding of how a strong community can help unlock that potential.
Q: With more than 15 years of career experience under your belt, you must have a strong professional network. What stands out to you about the Broncos in your orbit?
A: When the phone rings, the Bronco community always picks up. It really just goes to show the level of compassion and commitment the network has for one another. It’s truly unmatched.
Q: How do you think Bronco Exchange can support fellow alumni in their career journeys?
A: Bronco Exchange allows for seamless connections, as well as various levels of personal interaction across an incredible network of people. We’ve always known the Santa Clara community is second to none, but the traditional approach of making connections–via emails and in-person events–has really limited the possibilities. Bronco Exchange removes those barriers.
Q: When it comes to Bronco Exchange, you were somewhat of an early adopter. What enticed you to join?
A: I was drawn by the strength of the community and impressed by the investment in developing resources that can bring that community together in a seamless way.
Q: And, lastly, what career advice would you give your college self?
A: The start of your career is that…the start. Set big, ambitious goals, but make sure you enjoy the journey–no matter the twists and turns.
