Hi, I’m Caroline Chen, a senior majoring in Marketing & Communication. I am an international student from Jiangsu, China. Through this blog, I will provide you with a comprehensive insight into the life of an international student here at SCU. I will also share my perspectives to help you understand the unique journey of studying abroad.

Why I chose to apply and attend Santa Clara University

There were several compelling reasons behind my decision to choose Santa Clara University. Firstly, I was captivated by California’s climate, characterized by abundant sunshine and rare rainy days. This weather pattern guarantees a consistent temperature all year round. Secondly, SCU’s strategic location in the core of Silicon Valley offers great opportunities to pursue career opportunities with highly successful companies. To assist students, SCU’s Career Center frequently organizes career fairs, facilitating meaningful connections between students and these popular organizations.

Furthermore, being a private institution, SCU maintains small class sizes, typically with an average of 22-23 students per class. Such a learning environment was a key factor in my decision, as I believed it would provide me with the opportunity to establish close relationships with professors and cultivate valuable networking connections with my classmates.

If you are seeking advice on the application process, honesty is very important. Your genuine experiences and qualities will paint the most accurate picture of who you are. Moreover, when describing your extracurricular activities, don’t forget to share the more lighthearted and fun aspects of your life. Those can showcase your multifaceted personality beyond your academic pursuits. To check out specific requirements for international applicants, you may find them here.
