In academic year 2016-2017, the Committee on Lecturers and Adjuncts began discussing problems inherent in the annual requirement for Academic Year Adjunct Lecturers to reapply annaully for positions in which they were serving well and for which there was persistent programmatic need. In Winter 2018, the campus AAUP chapter developed a proposal requesting that the Faculty Senate Council endorse a request to the UCC and the the Arts and Sciences Council of Chairs to alter the contracts to include an option for renewal if the faculty member is performing well and there remains a programmatic need for their courses.
