In Spring 2013, a new tuition structure was announced for Kids on Campus (KOC), to begin in January 2014. The structure included a 25% phased-in tuition hike. KOC parents and friends were concerned about the plan, and brought a proposal to the Faculty Senate Council for review and redress (May 2013). A task force was formed with the charge to:
"look at a range of possible models for supporting chair [sic] care (infant to five years), and provide a report detailing strengths and weaknesses of each model, including tuition rates and child care capacity." (Faculty Senate Council minutes, 9 October 2013)
The task force prepared a preliminary report and presented it at a Town Hall meeting on 20 March 2014. At the 9 April 2014 FSC meeting, there was further discussion of recommendations that might be made based on the pending Task Force Report. Recommendations were completed in late May, and in the following October, the Assistant VP of Human Resources formed the KOC Tuition Structure Committee. The Committee completed a report on their proposal for tuition changes in April 2015. This report was not shared with the campus community until 15 June 2015.
