The Santa Clara University chapter of the American Association of University Professors has worked to improve shared governance and the conditions of faculty employment at the University for several decades. Its members were instrumental in securing Santa Clara the first-ever Ralph S. Brown Award for Shared Governance, given by the AAUP in 1998.1
