The Jesuits are members of the Society of Jesus, an international religious community founded by St. Ignatius of Loyola in the 16th century. Today, Jesuits enrich the University through their work as scholars, researchers, teachers, and administrators. One of the guiding principles of a Jesuit education is the education of the whole person. Another is the fostering of religious diversity. This means you will be welcomed at SCU whether or not you are a Catholic. Finally, a Jesuit education centers around the 3 C’s: competence, conscience, and compassion.
