Intuit Workshop for Santa Clara University Students, June 17 and 18:

Privacy is a growing concern for customers/users on the Web, and thus it has become a growing concern for companies. Intuit has tons of data about individuals (more financial info than the IRS does!) and wants its customers to trust it with all of that data.

The question to be addressed at the workshop is “how do customers prefer to be informed about a company's privacy and data stewardship principles?” Presumably, if customers are more informed and trust a company, then they will be more likely to do business with that company—the desired goal here.

Students will work in teams to come up with ideas and then test those ideas. The tentative schedule for this structured workshop appears below. The students on the winning team will get prizes (such as iPads or something similar—still to be determined!).

Day 1 (June 17)

9:00-9:30 – Welcome & Intro
9:30-10:00 – Design for Delight overview
10:00-11:00 – Vision/Problem to solve – brainstorm, customer feedback
11:00-11:45 – Next Tool walkthrough intro?
12:00-1:00 – Working lunch discussing Next Tool using vision, formulating hypotheses, experiments
1:00-1:30 – NEXT Tool continued
1:30-4:00 – First experiments - Get out of the building!

Day 2 (June 18)

8:30-9:00 – Breakfast
9:00-9:45 – Debrief of yesterday
10:00-10:30 – More customer feedback
10:30-12:00 – Experiments
12:00-1:00 – Lunch
1:00-3:00 – Experiments – submit for judging
3:15 – Debrief. Close. Prizes.

Free Demandware Training and Certification

Demandware will be offering free developer training and certification on our platform in San Francisco from Dec. 3 - 7 as a part of our 2012 Code and Connect Developer Roadshow.

All qualified applicants will get free admission to a 4 day extensive Demandware developer training class, plus a complementary opportunity to take the Demandware certification exam on day 5. Attendees who successfully complete the certification exam are also invited to attend a networking opportunity in the afternoon of day 5, where they will get to meet Demandware customers and partners looking to hire Demandware certified developers.

There is absolutely no cost involved for students beyond transportation and accommodation (if required.) Breakfast and lunch will be served daily free of charge. There will be optional evening events, fun and informational, again free of charge. Students are required to bring their own workstation (notebook) for this training.
