Santa Clara University to compete in 2013 Solar Decathlon
SCU’s 2013 entry will be a 1000 square foot, single bed and bathroom residence. This year, the team plans to use bamboo, one of the most sustainable materials available, for both structure and finishing. SCU has a history of using bamboo in the Solar Decathlon, and this year’s team plans on going even further in 2013.
The team is committed to showing the benefits of Solar Power and sustainable design to the public through all phases of the competition. They have designed their house around the mission of “solar for all,” as their goal is to make these technologies available to people all over the world.
Throughout the planning and development stages of the competition, the monthly Sustainability Update will feature a news piece on the project, so stay tuned!
