April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM)! The goal of SAAM is to raise public awareness of sexual violence and to educate individuals on how to prevent sexual violence. Although it is a major public health, human rights, and social justice issue, sexual violence is not often discussed as much as other social problems on college campuses. SAAM exists in order to encourage individuals to make a concerted effort to stop sexual violence through special events, activities, and forums.

At Santa Clara University, Every 2 Minutes, the on-campus sexual violence awareness, education, and prevention organization, works to raise awareness and to educate students, staff, and faculty during this month by putting on numerous events. A list of these events can be found here. Through workshops, presentations, guest lectures, and even a candlelight march through campus, Every 2 Minutes offers many ways for the Santa Clara Community to get involved and spread awareness of sexual violence during the month of April.

Visit Every 2 Minute's Facebook page for event information and updates during April, and please get involved because social equity is one of the most important tenets of sustainability.
