Hoofprint Challenge: New Year, (Re)new Pledge!

New Delivery Season for Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)!

Directly purchase organic fruits and vegetables from a local farm in Hollister. CSA boxes are delivered to campus every Tuesday. Half-share boxes are now available for $15 and full boxes are $25. New Student Organization: Students For Safe Drug Disposal

A relatively new student organization, Students For Safe Drug Disposal, whose activities are tightly tied to the university's sustainability mission, grew out of the Public Relations Capstone class taught by Buford Barr in the Communication Department.
As the name implies, the organization is focused on helping educate the Santa Clara University community, the local Santa Clara County community and the California academic communities on the safe disposal of unused pharmaceutical that are too often ending up in our potable water supplies.
The organization's big project this year will be a campus-wide drug drop off program and they are currently recruiting for volunteers. Those interested should contact Caroline Silver at

Energy Challenge: Zero-Power Hour

Women's Water Polo Green Game
Wed, Feb. 12th, 4 pm | Sullivan Aquatic Center (Malley pool)

The Women's Water Polo team is taking their game up a notch! See them in action as they show off their skills against Stanford while also taking action to create a more sustainable campus. The game will be zero-waste (bottled water free and no single-use cups), will educate fans about California's drought, and will advocate for reducing carbon emissions! (The Stanford women's team is taking Caltrain to SCU!)

Low-Carbon Valentine's Day Social
Thurs, Feb.13th, 3-5pm | The Forge Garden

The Forge Garden's social event of the quarter! Watch and learn how to prepare a climate-friendly, low-carbon meal with your loved ones, friends, and family. Plus, snacks, crafts, and music!

Rainbow Prom
Fri, Feb. 14th, 9 pm | Locatelli Activity Center

Presented by SCCAP, this year’s Rainbow Prom theme is "Say 'I Do' to Marriage Equality." Bring your partner and/or friends--all are welcome! Check out the Facebook event for more details.

Energy Challenge: SCU Unplugged
Wed, Feb. 19th, 9 pm | The Bronco

Students living on and off campus unplug their electronics and appliances, and leave their rooms to celebrate energy conservation with an acoustic music performance from student vocal groups, artists, and bands from across campus. Earn enthusiasm points for your RLC by attending this event!

Raised Bed Building Workshop

A Dialogue with His Holiness the Dalai Lama
Mon, Feb. 24th, 10 am | Leavey Center

A world figure and Nobel Peace Laureate, His Holiness has become one of the most articulate voices promoting the practice of compassion, one of Santa Clara’s core commitments. The theme of the day will be the role of compassion in organizational life, particularly in business. Learn more here.
