What Can I Do?

Reduce: Reduce the amount of chemical cleaning solutions you use by making your own products. To clean off countertops, dip a wash cloth into warm water with dish soap and baking soda. Baking soda will help remove any tough stains and light scratches. For more information and useful tips, visit EarthShare.

Reuse: Are you buying boxes and packaging paper for move-out or summer storage? Make sure to treat your packaging materials with care so you can reuse them. Cardboard boxes and wrapping paper can always be flattened for easy storage and you won't have to spend more money on packaging next year.

Recycle: Do you have a lot of items you no longer need such as couches, laundry baskets, or costumes? Instead of throwing them away, recycle them by reselling these items to classmates via the SCU Classifieds or on Craigslist.

Respect: Also, treat your home with care. Try using products that will keep it a healthy space, and minimize your use of bleaches and products containing phosphates in your home.
