Santa Clara University is a Charter Signatory of the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment. We developed a Climate Neutrality Action Plan in 2010, and have a goal to achieve Climate Neutrality by the end of 2015.
The Sustainability, Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS) is administered by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE). Santa Clara University was a Charter Participant in the first STARS program. The University earned a Silver rating in January 2011 and a Gold rating in 2014.
As a Jesuit and Catholic University, we have the responsibility to provide leadership in developing a more sustainable way of living. By embracing sustainability, the University furthers its mission to act as a voice of reason, conscience, and service to society.
