Study Abroad Week officially begins the year-long advising period for Sophomores and Juniors who wish to study abroad in the Summer 2010, Fall 2010, Winter 2011, and Spring 2011 terms. All students who wish to study in Santa Clara's 104 approved program locations around the world MUST attend Study Abroad 101 on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at 7:00 - 8:15 pm in Benson, California Mission Room. Come and find out who can study abroad, where you can study, how to apply, and ways to prepare for Study Abroad Advising Week.

All students who are planning to study abroad next academic year 2010 - 2011 must attend this kick-off session. The International Programs Office staff and Peer Advisors will discuss the most frequently asked questions about study abroad procedures including program options, eligibility requirements, cost, financial aid policy, timeline, application deadlines, how to apply, among others. Limited seating so arrive early. First priority seating for Seniors, Juniors, and Sophomores.
If you missed the event, you are required to know the information discussed. Download these resources or pick up copies of the handouts at the International Programs Office.
Search Program Options
Search by Country, City, or Provider.
Use our online search portal to find a program based on the location, provider, GPA requirements, language pre-requisites, housing options, etc. Then go to the program provider's information session or talk to the campus representative at their advising table in the Benson Lobby.

Have general questions about study abroad?
The International Program staff are available to talk to students about all aspect of study abroad including program options, application procedures, financial aid policy, and to answer all your questions. You can call the office at 408.554.6940 to set up an appointment. For all general study abroad advising needs students will meet with Vid Raatior, Assistant Director for Study Abroad Programs. Vid and the Peer Advisors will be available at the International Programs table in Benson.

Trying to figure out where to start?
We have Peer Advisors who have studied abroad and are part of our staff to help you. You can reach them by visiting the International Programs Office at Kenna 110 or calling 408.554.6940 or by emailing
AbroadSCU@gmail.com. The Peer Advisors along with members of the International Ambassadors program will be tabling in the Benson Lobby throughout the week to chat with you.

Sometimes it's best to hear it from fellow students who have studied abroad in the specific location which you are considering. The International Ambassadors are study abroad alumni (mostly seniors) who are available to talk with you about their own experience. We encourage you to
view their profiles and reflections and contact them if you have any questions.

Do you want one-on-one advising by a campus representative?
All of our affiliated program representatives will be on campus during Study Abroad Week to talk with students, lead information sessions, and hand out their brochures. You can have one-on-one advising at their tables in the Benson Lobby throughout the week. Please consult our Upcoming Events for their information sessions and tabling schedules.

Compare and Contrast Program Options!
Information sessions are led by the respective visiting campus representatives with the goal of providing students with an overview of the providers (Arcadia, IES, SFS, etc), their location-specific program options (Australia, Spain, Denmark, etc), the services each provider or locations offer (course offerings, financial aid, requirements, etc), and any other information raised by students. We invite you to attend as many of the info sessions as you want to compare and contrast program options.
