Program Overview:

The SCU Barcelona Program is customized specifically for Santa Clara students who wish to enjoy the quality services provided by the Institute of International Education of Students (IES) while paying Santa Clara subsidized fees. Participants will study at the IES Barcelona Study Center and if qualified direct enroll at a local university. The program also features a Winter Quarter program for students who wish to extend their Fall to the Winter quarter before returning to campus for the Spring quarter term. Or for students whose schedule only allows for a Winter quarter abroad program.

Fall Program:  In addition to the standard five course curriculum in Barcelona, Santa Clara is now offering a four course custom program option at a reduced price.  The Santa  Clara custom immersion uses the same classes as the standard IES program.  Required features include:

  • 4 classes including language (required)
  • direct enrollment in local university (optional as eligible)
  • 1 internship or service-learning class (optional)
  • home stay housing (required)

Winter Program: The new winter quarter option offers three classes plus an end-of-quarter travel study excursion.  Class selection will include Business and Communication (depending on minimum enrollment). Home stay housing is included in the program price, dorm or apartment housing available at additional cost.

Course Offerings: Participants in the SCU Barcelona Program take all their courses through the IES Barcelona Study Center or if qualified through the direct enrolled options in local universities.
